Ms. Hayesie’s Top 10

This quick post will hopefully introduce you to who I am as a person and educator.

  1. πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸ‘§πŸ½β€πŸ‘§πŸ½
I am a single mother of 2 rambunctious daughters. Becoming a parent has definitely given me a new perspective on being an educator.
  2. 🌱
I don’t have a green thumb but I have been working really hard on NOT killing plants. I am currently on an 18 month streak for indoor plants and a 1 month streak for outdoor plants.
  3. 🀣
Laughter truly is the best medicine. I try to find a silver lining of humor (and sometimes irony) in even the most dire situations.
  4. 🌞
Seasonal affective disorder is real. Sunshine brings me joy and I miss it during the winter months. I’m seriously considering investing in one of those sunlight simulator light boxes so I can get my sunshine in the winter!
  5. πŸ½οΈπŸ˜‹
I love food. I love to cook. I love to eat at new restaurants and have new culinary experiences. I love to introduce my daughters to different cultures through the lens of their food.
  6. 🎨
I love to create. I haven’t made it a priority since becoming a parent, but my children love to craft and create and they have helped me regain this part of my self.
  7. πŸ“š
I love to learn about new things, and love reading and I am sooooo thankful for the advent of audio books and podcasts, because these methods of consuming new content fit my lifestyle a little better these days.
  8. πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸ«
I am a fourth-generation educator. My father was a high school science teacher and then administrator. My grandfather was an elementary teacher and then an administrator, and my great-grandmother had 14 children and prepared them all for college during the Jim Crow era.
  9. ♻️
I am a hippie at heart and do all that I can to help reduce my impact on the Earth.
  10. ❀️
I truly believe in the power of love and relationship. I try to align my actions so that I am operating in love every day, in every interaction. You never know what impact a seemingly random interaction will have on someone else. This is a great responsibility.
